Happy Birthday, Artemis!

Fowl and Fandom

New Fanfiction archive at AFC

Artemis Fowl Confidential recently upgraded its fanfiction software and opened a new AFC FanFiction Archive. The improved functionality – such as the ability to search by character, or leave star ratings for fics – has proved popular and there are already over thirty stories posted there, including many by well known writers in the fandom.

Eoin Colfer to tour the US

ArtemisFowl.com has put up dates for three signings that Eoin Colfer will be doing in America at the end of September and beginning of October. They're all in either Minnesota or Illinois.

Jim Sheridan working on the movie

It's rare for an article about the movie to contain more than rumours or rehashed information, but a recent article in The Sunday Times broke this mould by giving us lots of news about the film's current situation. It includes quotes from several people involved in the ongoing pre-production process, and the main points made are as follows:

“Ultimate Fowl Superfan” competition at ArtemisFowl.co.uk

To coincide with the release of The Lost Colony in the UK & Ireland, Puffin are running a competition to find the Ultimate Fowl Super Fan. In order to win the prize – a day of LEPrecon Combat Training and a bag of Artemis Fowl gear – you have to convince the judges of your superfan status by sending in fanfiction, fanart, a video, a design for a game, photos of yourself dressed up or any combination of these. The closing date is October 31st.

New fanlisting at AFFG

Artemis Fowl FanGathering has just opened a new fanlisting. If you like Artemis Fowl (which you presumably do, as you're reading this fanzine) you can sign up and have yourself listed to show your appreciation. And if you have a website, you can pick up a little button to display as well.

Aidan Mitchell wants to play Artemis

In an interview on Unison.ie, young Irish actor Aidan Mitchell said he was interested in the role of Artemis. He's not the first to have expressed an interest but rumours are already flying that he has in fact been cast. However, the article from The Sunday Times mentioned above makes it clear that no roles have yet been cast – so for now at least, Aidan Mitchell's involvement is just a rumour.
