Issue #4
Think you can recognize an author by their writing style? Think you can pin an anonymous fic to a writer based on the way it is written? Well, here's your chance to try, even if you don't think either these things.
Guess the Author is a competition based around differentiating between author's styles. A group of volunteer authors are given the same set of requirements or prompt and have to write a fic or fic excerpt inspired by it. Then it is your task to determine which was written by whom, just from a list of who participated and links to samples of their previous work.
This month's authors were...
Dim Aldebaran
FairyHunter
hollybridgetpeppermint
The White Lily
This month's prompt was...
"It's like riding a unicorn. You never forget."
-Foaly, from Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer
This month's submissions were...
Blackbird
Desperate Measures
Eurydice

Now, make a guess! All guesses should be sent to the zine editor, and a list of guessers who got at least one right will be published in the next edition, along with the number of fic-author matches each guesser got correct.
The authors would all appreciate feedback on their fics, so please go ahead and review - even though you don't know who you're reviewing!
Wondering about the answers to the previous issue? Wonder no more...
Last issue's answers were...
Anordir - Optical Illusion
Blue Yeti - A Toast to a Brave New World and Never-Never-Land
colfergeek - [Untitled]
Dim Aldebaran - Violin Beau
FairyHunter - Relapse
Kitty Rainbow - Psychosomatism
The Humble Mosquito - Shimmers
The White Lily - Immutable
Congratulations to...
The White Lily, for correctly matching four fics to their authors!
(Seriously, folks, just send in your guess, and you'll get your name in the zine with absolutely no effort.)
Want to participate? We always welcome volunteers to write, be it for every issue or just one.
Spin a tale that is long enough to display your style, and short enough that readers will be able to peruse a number of other entries in one sitting (50-500 words, preferably). And it must be Cudgeon enough that my recent craving for a Cudgeonfic will be quenched-just kidding, you don't need to write about Cudgeon, though your fic must relate to the prompt in some way.
Next month's prompt:
"Ambition had a price, and that price was friendship."
-from p. 209 (American edition) of Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer
Please contact me (either to FairyHunterATgmailDOTcom or through the Orion forums PM system) if you decide to participate in GTA for this prompt, so that I can send such you things as the rules and the due date.
