The Sword of God, by AgiVega. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
AgiVega has woven in time-travel into this fic, and avoided - no, exploited - the paradoxes related to time-travel.
, by The White Lily. [PG-13, Ship withheld by author]
I just love the way the first and second person perspectives are used, and the whole twist to it that we uncover in the end.
, by The White Lily. [PG, Artemis/anyone]
This is seriously my favorite fic ever. It was so powerful and so beautifully written and so many other things. I'm going to be rereading it over and over for the rest of my life. It perfectly depicts Artemis!in!love.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
Evil!Arty. Everything was perfectly justified, which I loved. I was grinning evilly the whole way through.
, by hollybridgetpeppermint. [G, Artemis/Holly]
Oooh, the brilliant writing... the script format adds something. And the cleverly disguised ship adds a cunning twist when you least expect it. Simply brilliant.
, by Genghis Khan. [R]
The author uses very detailed descriptions and has the best sense of humor!
, by Usuani_theslayer. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
I reccomend this because i think it is very interesting
, by Blue Yeti. [G, Butler/Original Female Character]
This might just be my favorite Yeti!fic. You won't find a loose thread anywhere in it (as in, you'll find tied-in bits everywhere). It's just amazing. Had me in tears.
, by Ever1. [R, Artemis Fowl/James Sprintz/Alex Rider, Artemis FowlxAlex Rider]
Artemis is written beautifully simple and the dynamics between the three characters is a lovely blend between teenage angst and love. A Crowd is possible some of [Ever1's] best writing ever. Most likely because of the way she has chained events together into a smooth context, which simply flows when you read. It is, put simply, beautiful.
, by Dreamlight. [PG, Artemis/Holly]
I find it very meaningful, and deep. It is very thought provoking, and overall amazing.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [R]
Because it's controversial and frightening and original and in-character and fabulous and awesome and powerful.
, by Know My Dark. [PG]
It's exactly as if Eoin Colfer wrote it himself - Characterisation is absolutely spot on, there's lots of inventive new technology/new ideas about how the fairy world works, it's exciting and has that same punchy writing style from the books
, by Olynara Sedai. [PG, Minerva/Artemis/Holly]
The story was simply...wow-inducing. The writer made the symbolisation really work, and it really got me into thinking the way the author wants the readers to. The story ends with a twist, and even though it wasn't described as humour, it was highly humourous. I highly reccomend this fic to anyone who's looking for something short, sweet, and unexpected. I'd give this fic a 10/10!
, by Lessa and Ryn. [PG, vaguely Artemis/Death, Artemis FowlxElisabeth]
Because it's brilliant. I would copy the positive part of my judging notes... but just, gah, the characterisation of Death was superb. And the way the dialogue was formed, presented and tied up is a lesson to anyone writing dialogue in the AF fandom. This, boys and girls, is how it's done.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Trouble, Artemis/Holly]
A wonderfully tragic exploration of a love that just can't believe it's real, and thus holds the seeds of its own destruction. The writing is flawless, and the beautiful angsty story had me enthralled from beginning to end.
, by Serpentira. [PG-13, Artemis/Original Character]
I thought it had an interesting feel to it... it avoided being terribly clichéd or mushy, and there was some nice aphorisms slipped in here and there. Plus, I think it was pretty well done for a 1st POV from an OC. The relationship felt a bit too... normal, for something Artemis might have had, but it's cute in a weird sort of way.
, by frog-noo. [PG, Artemis/Original Female Character]
Well, there's not a lot of even semidecent songfics out there, so I thought I ought to nominate this, since it really is decent. In any case, the OC wasn't Sueish or anything, and there was just this brilliant moment near the end that sold the fic for me. Good connection between lyrics and fic, too.
, by Blue Yeti. [G, Butler/Original Female Character]
The lyrics were very well integrated into the fic, and overall... well, it was really quite flawless. Everything was simply spot-on. And- that last line, I got a kick of that, too. Stupid Eliot.
, by Moriko-Demon. [PG-13]
The lyrics were incorporated very smoothly into the fic, and the symbolism was well done.
, by ckontowderdon32. [PG-13, Artemis/Minerva, Artemis/Holly]
Dark and dramatic, with an interesting twist on an otherwise common character concept. Some turns of phrases in there, and some interesting character moments - fine imagery with Artemis driving down the road, simply because, and also in singing to "Holly". Not flawless, but certainly an interesting read from an author with a whole heap of promise.
, by Eterah. [PG, Angeline/Timmy]
A good handling of the song (which was surprisingly interesting when combined with the story) and the shattered elements which came together to tell an Artemis and Timmy story.
, by Kitty Rainbow. [G]
Though the drabbles are varied, the writing stays consistently good. Every drabble has something to reccomend it.
, by TrunkZy. [PG, Butler/Original Female Character]
Oh, the Butlerness. It's just... lovely. It needs a tiny bit more polish, but mmmmm... I have a litter of at least twelve healthy newborn plotbunnies just from reading it.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG]
Because it's a troll fic. I love the incoherentgibberishness of it.
, by FairyHunter. [G, Ship withheld by author]
It's an *awesome* idea, and it's nicely done in drabbleness. FH's made a very narcisstic point of view, without messing around with clones, and there are so many *hints* of delicious deviations from the norm caught up in this idea.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13, Artemis/Butler]
Um. Ugh. *Shoves brain back into ears.* *This* is what Artler is. This is who Butler is. This is awesome, especially trapped within 100 words. Frankly, it didn't need to be Artler, because it was still an absolutely wonderful account of the sacrifices, especially the moral ones, which we see Butler making for the sake of Artemis. I loved how it was completely focused on Butler as well, so they were successive choices he was making, nothing which wasn't a voluntary decision.
, by Smidgie. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
Angsty!Holly done rather well. Manages to convey a story, yet leave much up to the reader's imagination. Nice style, too.
, by Dreamlight. [PG, Artemis/Holly]
I find it very meaningful, and deep. It is very thought provoking, and overall amazing.
, by The White Lily. [PG, Artemis/anyone]
This is seriously my favorite fic ever. It was so powerful and so beautifully written and so many other things. I'm going to be rereading it over and over for the rest of my life. It perfectly depicts Artemis!in!love.
, by ckontowderdon32. [PG-13, Artemis/?]
It's sweet and sad and tightly pulled together, with a lovely kick. Very nice.
, by Blue Yeti. [G]
The concept is just brilliant, and the writing is awesome, too.
, by The White Lily. [G]
The lovely contrast-y bits. And the concept, of course.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13, Artemis/Butler]
It's simultanously encompassing and distinct. it's exceptionally created in a drabble form, with every word counting and every new line impactful, to pull together to a wonderful whole. (It wasx very hard to pick between this one and I: Lust and Chastity as well.)
, by The White Lily. [PG-13, Ship withheld by author]
I just love the way the first and second person perspectives are used, and the whole twist to it that we uncover in the end.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13]
Beautiful language and style; basically, everything is beautiful. A thought-provoking idea as well, though that is owed to The Humble Mosquito. ;)
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Juliet]
The concept is amazing, and what Yeti's done with it is doubly so. It flows extremely well, despite the universe changing every 500 words. Hurray for multiverse!
, by The White Lily. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly/Juliet]
Totally disturbing. Concise. Beautiful.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
Evil!Arty. Everything was perfectly justified, which I loved. I was grinning evilly the whole way through.
, by Lessa and Ryn. [PG-13, one-sided Everyone/Artemis]
It's cute and funny and has a neat little ending that makes my insides giggle. Crushed!on!Artemis is love.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13, Opal/anyone]
Wonderful writing, masterful metaphors, and a lovely, lovely exploration of insanity.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Trouble, Artemis/Holly]
Highly structured, but still very elegant and gut-wrenching. The interplay between Holly, Trouble and Artemis is simply fascinating, and everything was on-spot. *points to other her reccomendations* I mean, it's Teh Yeti. What else can you expect?
, by Olynara Sedai. [PG-13]
Artemis is in character throughout: his thoughts, experiences and the overall concept of jealousy. Also, a very graceful writing syle.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [R]
Well done, all plot points tied up, the prose is excellent, the dual continuity is perfectly achieved, it stands a great chance in this category.
, by Forgotten-Heart. [PG-13]
It's... beautiful. Breathtaking, really. It just... took me. I could empathize (ha!) quite a bit with this, and it's... well. Me not having words is enough, isn't it?
, by Olynara Sedai. [PG, Minerva/Artemis/Holly]
The story was simply...wow-inducing. The writer made the symbolisation really work, and it really got me into thinking the way the author wants the readers to. , by Stradivari. [G]
Brilliant. Minerva is fantastically characterised, developed, and shown to us. The writing is beautiful, like all of Stradivari's work, but seems more contained and accessable than some of her work. This is definitely worth a read, especially for anyone who came out of TLC feeling disappointed about Minerva.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [G, Timmy/Angeline]
It's brilliant, it's accessable, it's telling an overdone story (that of Artemis I's influence and instruction of Artemis II) but in a new, facinating, metaphorical presentation which *works*. Accompanied by painful undercurrents and terrific characterisation, this is gold. I plan to steal it when Alde and Lily aren't looking.
, by Marz1. [PG-13]
Well, first of all, this was nom'd last time around... second of all, it's a nice fic, as far as A/A goes.
, by shadowgirlVG. [PG-13]
` A careful, well planned AFOC that has surprising depth and breadth. I haven't quite finished it, but it's a rather nice, general fic.
, by Stradivari. [PG-13, Artemis/Original Female Character]
Sustained ArtemisOFC without falling into mediocrity. Good overall writing as well - it goes into depth and takes its time.
, by Brizo. [PG, Artemis/Holly]
An interesting fic that offered much entertainment.
, by Simmetra. [PG, Artemis/Holly, Holly/Trouble]
I think it's very well written, has an original storyline, and is well researched in key areas.
, by Know My Dark. [PG]
It's exactly as if Eoin Colfer wrote it himself - Characterisation is absolutely spot on, there's lots of inventive new technology/new ideas about how the fairy world works, it's exciting and has that same punchy writing style from the books
, by Euripides. [PG-13, Alex Rider/Artemis Fowl, Artemis FowlxAlex Rider]
I thought that it was original without being overly cliched, and has the potential to develop even further. The author seems in no hurry to develop romance between them, preferring to set up a believable situation
The Sword of God, by AgiVega. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
AgiVega has woven in time-travel into this fic, and avoided - no, exploited - the paradoxes related to time-travel.
, by Kelitzo. [PG, Artemis/Holly, Foaly/Original Character]
, by RavenWriter89.
[G]
The 'dragons' idea is very good, grammar an all that. Characterisation seems alright so far.
, by KumquatBanana.
[PG, Artemis/Original Character]
The OC (Naomi)was a very interesting character, not mary-sue-ish and is unlike most OFCs. The plot of the story may not be so original, but the twists in the fic (the Spice Girls Fan-Band, the OMC falling for Female!Artemis, the sleepover, etc.) are original. The story is also well-written grammatically.
, by Usuani_theslayer. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
I reccomend this because i think it is very interesting
, by craziegirliecaptain. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
I believe the story has a really interesting plot. It has creative ideas on how to make Holly and Artemis come together, and there's an ominous force in the background.
It is, put simply, beautiful.

, by crystalocean. [PG-13, possible Holly/Trouble]
I'm not much of a fan of this genre, but it has an interesting and original concept behind all the running around and mayhem (hotshot racing) and it sticks to the characters pretty well.
, by Know My Dark. [PG]
It's exactly as if Eoin Colfer wrote it himself - Characterisation is absolutely spot on, there's lots of inventive new technology/new ideas about how the fairy world works, it's exciting and has that same punchy writing style from the books

It's a clever fic, well written. I'm enjoying it.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Juliet]
The concept is amazing, and what Yeti's done with it is doubly so. It flows extremely well, despite the universe changing every 500 words. Hurray for multiverse!
, by FairyHunter. [PG-13]
I always love her idea and the way she strings them together, but sometimes the angst insn't there because of the way she writes it. Here, it's there. The writing catches the idea perfectly and it made me shiver.
, by Blue Yeti. [G]
The concept is just brilliant, and the writing is awesome, too.
, by Anordir. [PG-13, Holly/Juliet]
I like the broken, free verse style to the writing; it makes it feel very loose and produces a nice flow.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG]
I really think there should be more poetry, and since all my poetry are very bad, I adore this one, which is, inevitably, very good. Death implied. Doubly good. Hawthorn implied. Fantastic.
, by Synthetic Humanity. [PG-13]
I rather like this... it has a wonderful, blank style in the last few bits. It deals with depressed!Artemis in a wonderful fashion that not a lot of people can really match.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13]
Beautiful language and style; basically, everything is beautiful. A thought-provoking idea as well, though that is owed to The Humble Mosquito. ;)
, by The White Lily. [PG-13, Ship withheld by author]

Totally disturbing. Concise. Beautiful.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13, Artemis/Opal]
I remember reading this fic when I had just finished my entry for the same crim challeng and thinking "Whoa! I'm screwed" and although my fic was okay - and Alde gave it a nice review in return, I think - I knew she was in a different league. I was sorta... blown away by this at the time. The eloquence of Alde's writing never ceases to impress me.
, by Annoying Schizoid. [PG-13]
It punched me in the gut when I finally read it a few weeks ago. Beautifully written too.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13, Opal/anyone]
Wonderful writing, masterful metaphors, and a lovely, lovely exploration of insanity.
, by Linwen. [PG-13, Angeline/Timmy]
Nice concept. Grammar and writing style consistent and good throughout. It's a genuine bit of decent angst amongst a lot of Sapodilla. *looks at other fics* It may be a bit out of its depth here - *fears for it* - but it's still a gem compared to everything else, so let it fight!
, by Droplets of Grey. [PG, Artemis/Juliet]
Besides the wow escaping my lips? Does there need to be one other than that. Because it's my favorite pairing despite the crack-ishness of it all.
, by Olynara Sedai. [PG-13]
This story shows us a side of Artemis that is worried about blending in with the crowd--and just how far he will go to achieve unique-ness. It's written beautifully, with style and a sense of simplicity.
, by Forgotten-Heart. [PG-13]
The concept is just brilliant, and the writing is awesome, too.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13]
Another mad!Angeline, but *whoa* this will do something interesting to your mind, your understandings, your preconceived notions, and possibly your religion.
, by Kitty Rainbow. [PG-13]
Sweet and sad and lovely. Shows the fundamental angst of the Artemis/Holly pairing gently and without melodrama.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13, Gryffindor/Root, Artemis FowlxHarry Potter]
I liked the quirky style of it. And it's an unusual crossover - usually people jump right to Artemis! In!Hogwarts, but here, it's not even in the same time frame, and with fairly rare characters. It didn't resolve any of the HPAF canon conflicts, though... which can be discussed later, during judging?
, by Lessa and Ryn. [PG, vaguely Artemis/Death, Artemis FowlxElisabeth]
It was a very well handled afterlife/post!death fic, in a time when these are quite popular and therefore can be boring. The crossover was an obscure one, but the story didn't suffer from it at all - the element/crossover of Death was wonderfully excecuted, and very much in character for Artemis. It was an interesting moment, characterisation and scene, and the worlds were merged easily.
, by hollybridgetpeppermint. [PG, Artemis FowlxStar Wars]
The wonder of this writing requires no explanation.
, by FairyHunter. [PG-13, Tom Riddle/Artemis Fowl, Artemis FowlxHarry Potter]
I had to read this a couple of times, because I remixed it. And to be frank, the first time I read it, I thought it was okay, but nothing special. However, it grew on me... the detached, biographical style becomes almost chilling eventually, and it's a lovely concept. It has it's flaws, admittedly, but it's worthy of nommination.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Will Pary/Artemis Fowl, Artemis FowlxHis Dark Materials]
Lovely writing, nice plot, good chracterisation.
, by Euripides. [PG-13, Alex Rider/Artemis Fowl, Artemis FowlxAlex Rider]
I thought that it was original without being overly cliched, and has the potential to develop even further. The author seems in no hurry to develop romance between them, preferring to set up a believable situation
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
Evil!Arty. Everything was perfectly justified, which I loved. I was grinning evilly the whole way through.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Trouble, Artemis/Holly]
The interplay between Trouble, Holly and Artemis here is just beautiful. Trouble's jealousy, his actions, Holly's infidelity, Artemis being his manipulative self... the way they react to each other is simply fantastic. And still infinitely better than Slipknot.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [R]
Because it's controversial and frightening and original and in-character and fabulous and awesome and powerful.
, by Linwen. [PG-13, Angeline/Timmy]
This is an awesome construction of Insangeline, which is an extremely difficult topic to tackle with realism, sensitivity, and without unnecessary melodrama. Angeline's madness is the focus of the fic, but the insanity is still subtle, rather than bombastic and cliched. Brilliant work.
, by Stradivari. [G]
Brilliant. Minerva is fantastically characterised, developed, and shown to us. The writing is beautiful, like all of Stradivari's work, but seems more contained and accessable than some of her work. This is definitely worth a read, especially for anyone who came out of TLC feeling disappointed about Minerva.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13]
Yoshi is really quite lovely. A little less melodramatic than other's of Mozzie's fics, and it feels a bit more quiet, and more palatable for that. With an excellent Butler, and a facinating Madame Ko, it really is a nice drama peice
, by Black Knight. [G]
Because I get a laugh every time I even think about this fic. *giggles manaically*
, by Lessa and Ryn. [PG-13, one-sided Everyone/Artemis]
It's cute and funny and has a neat little ending that makes my insides giggle. Crushed!on!Artemis is love. The Derek thing was perfect. Good timing, and funny without over-doing it.
, by Overdue. [PG]
Some wonderful play on the tinfoil hats, and interesting insights into Foaly's character. Lili bashing. It's so hard to believe this is a good first fic, and, not only that, a good Foaly fic, which are rare enough as it is. And then, it's humour with some soul to it. I was taken completely by surprised.
, by Genghis Khan. [R]
The author uses very detailed descriptions and has the best sense of humor!

[PG, Holly/Artemis]
Up to chapter five (which is what I managed to read), it made me giggle a fair few times, and laugh out hard once (I trust you'll find the spot, if you like hilarious mentals).
, by Olynara Sedai. [PG, Minerva/Artemis/Holly]
The story was simply...wow-inducing. The writer made the symbolisation really work, and it really got me into thinking the way the author wants the readers to. It made me laugh. A lot. And I don't even like parodies. I was just looking for something to review. Anywho, it does parodize the characters pretty well, though it's not written as a story but as a screenplay.
, by scrivania. [PG, Artemis/Original Character]
An original, cool idea that made me giggle. What more could you ask?
, by Carmane. [PG]
Very, very funny. One of the funniest fics I've read in a long time. It is in script format and this is the second time it's been posted, although I think this is more because the author took it down, not because someone alerted ffnet to the against-ffnet-guidlines-ness of it.
, by Tora and TheEvilestGirlChild. [PG]
It's well-written, which is a lot more than you can say about some parodies. And obviously funny. I was torn between putting it here or in Humour, but it doesn't relate to canon much, so here it is.
, by VampirePeaches. [PG-13, Mary Sue/Artemis]
A nice little twist on the normal Mary Sue parody, everyone is in character and it's really funny!
, by Kelitzo. [PG, Artemis/Holly, Foaly/Original Character]
, by The White Lily. [PG, Artemis/anyone]
This is seriously my favorite fic ever. It was so powerful and so beautifully written and so many other things. I'm going to be rereading it over and over for the rest of my life. It perfectly depicts Artemis!in!love.

Oooh, the brilliant writing... the script format adds something. And the cleverly disguised ship adds a cunning twist when you least expect it. Simply brilliant.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Trouble, Artemis/Holly]
Brilliant, as all of Yeti's works are. It's so wonderful and complex, and it builds so terrifically until the end - the end is just perfect. The style is rich and thick, like honey - but not at all sweet, since everything in this story is so wonderful and bitter and angsty. And I *still* can't believe she got this out of Slipknot!
, by Kraven Ergeist. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
The dialogue was simply superb, sparkling with wit, and the characterizations were right on, excepting the end. And of course, this is *sustained*, which is what I find most impressive about this fic. And the restraint! Most authors would have had them snogging each other after all that, and this dude- he let it *stand*. Perfect!
, by plasticphoenix. [PG-13, Artemis/Juliet]
...besides being simply marvelous? The coherancy of it all. Lovely one liners. Some of them should be nommed for Best Line...
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13, Foaly/Lili Frond]
Because Filly is cool, and a fandom first. I like the way it's handled as an unexpected pairing - it seems so very Foaly to hide his relationship with the LEP's darling.
, by Kitty Rainbow. [PG-13, Holly/Artemis]
Sweet and sad and lovely. Shows the fundamental angst of the Artemis/Holly pairing gently and without melodrama.
, by The White Lily. [PG-13, Ship withheld by author]

Most likely because of the way she has chained events together into a smooth context, which simply flows when you read. It is, put simply, beautiful.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [PG-13, Artemis/Butler]
Like ungh. Some of these linked drabbles will really kick you in the guts, pull at your hair, and make you think that Butler is a very complicated man indeed, while Artemis is far too nasty to be good for him.
, by Kelitzo. [G]
I rather like it - it has nice flow and repetition throughout. Very nice stuff.
, by Kitty Rainbow. [G]
Though the drabbles are varied, the writing stays consistently good. Every drabble has something to reccomend it.
, by The Black Knight. [PG-13, Julius Root/Original Female Character]
This was really good. *nodnod* More directly, although this isn't the first post-death fic to come out, I think it is one of the most original. It's tight, while still addressing a lot of issues in Julius's character and in the invented fairy afterworld. Some wonderful lines and moments which were intensely emotional, even with OCs and short exposition.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG]
I would put the essay I wrote comparing this fic to Plato's Allegory of the Cave here, but I think you might thwack me for ranting. The concept is just fabulous. Insane!Arty is pulled off wonderfully, and his discovery of the Truth is moving (though that last line needs a little bit of clarification, or perhaps more build up).
, by Tora-kun126. [PG-13]
It was a ray of hope on a pilgimage through the utter rubbish on ff.net, and I thought it was vaguely, somewhat, a little bit intriguing. It's quite Frankensteinish, and there's only one chapter, but the premise was interesting, and if she goes somewhere interesting with it, then it might be a really good fic.
, by Fuzzy Grapes. [PG]
It's listed as angst, but it feels more general to me with the understated irony and such. At any rate, I liked the interplay between description and commentary very muchly, and also the sense of irony that it brings. There's little things through this fic that just sparkle, glimpses of her life that glitter of irony. The veritable diamond in the rough.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [G, Timmy/Angeline]
A beautiful day at the seaside for Artemis, Artemis and Angeline. Of course, take into account that this is written by Alde and you've got beauty, facination, concepts to wibble at, and extended metaphors to make you shiver and submit to her understanding of the characters, like rocks surrendering to sand.
, by Stradivari. [PG]
A facinating Artemis. A delicious presentation. Intriguing motives, inherent darkness, and that little edge of heart-in-throat realisation which makes for an intense read.
The Sword of God, by AgiVega. [PG-13, Artemis/Holly]
Concept recommended: The time-travel and all the repurcussions associated with it. The grandfather paradox, the parallel universe.
, by The White Lily. [PG-13, Ship withheld by author]
Concept recommended: The grammatical tenses used, and the first/second person omniscient perspective.
, by Stradivari. [G]
Concept recommended: Overall.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Juliet]
Concept recommended: The "theme and variation" structure. The shifting between universes.
, by Brizo. [PG, Artemis/Holly]
Concept recommended: It's based around Cinderella.

Concept recommended: I would have put the essay I wrote comparing this fic to Plato's Allegory of the Cave here, but I thought you might thwack me for ranting. Anyway, I totally love the idea of the mirror madness. And the idea of ugly!Artykins. And the idea that Colfer is a grinning idiot. Really, overall, just a cool idea.

Concept recommended: The nature of Underground prejudice, with the assumptions made about race, relationships, and associated status of species. The concept of a 'kept' Foaly.

Concept recommended: The idea was good. The symbolisation made the story even better and itconfuses the reader into thinking that it wasn't really a humour fic. Simply great!

Line recommended: Foaly was in total shock. Where had the commander learned the word theoretically? It had whole five syllables. He even got it in the right context!

Lily has *nailed* the connundrum of Artemis and love. This is how Artemis *would* react. This is what I've been trying to convince people of for years. This is how Artemis works. Forget the dying passion which makes him leap tall buildings and brave jaguars and giant mosquitos, this is how Artemis would act when in love. Because not only is this a brilliant presentation of love once it's gotten past the adolescent hormone stages, it's also *the* conception of how Artemis would act when he has found love, and put it in its place.
, by Blue Yeti. [PG-13, Holly/Trouble, Artemis/Holly]
Even though this fic begins in the middle of a drama - and after the characters have changed - the charcaterizations are still brilliant, and always spot on. How they have changed from the characters we know from the books is fully justified, and carried out to their logical ends. It reminds me vaguely of Les Miserables, in how it just sweeps through the characterizations.
, by Blue Yeti. [G, Butler/Original Female Character]
Everyone has spot on characterization, even the OCs. It's astounding how cute young!Juliet is. It's mind-boggling how believable angsty!Butler is.
It is, put simply, beautiful.
, by Lessa and Ryn. [PG, vaguely Artemis/Death, Artemis FowlxElisabeth]
Well, I'm mainly nomming it here for Death's Characterisation, and I'm not entirely sure whether that's okay, as he's not AF!canon. But Alde seems to think it's okay, and I simply must. They've blended four characterisations of the same character perfectly: lustful, obnoxious, psychotic, and empathetic. It was so lovely to read.
, by Stradivari. [G]
This Minerva is well developed, well thought out, and just so much *more* than we get in her brief appearances in Canon. This Minerva lives and breathes and resents and is jealous and hates and loves those things she holds sentimental. She's beautiful, and a facinating presentation.
, by Dim Aldebaran. [G, Timmy/Angeline]
Impeccable voice from ten-year-old Artemis, and fantastic extrapolations on the family life of Timmy, Angeline and Artemis, with things described with just an edge of innocence.
, by The Humble Mosquito. [PG-13]
Butler is brilliant. Madame Ko is a menace to humanity. The implications towards what Butlers are, and have been, and have always been proven to be, is just utterly delicious. Lovely characterisation of Butler. A bit stale on Madame Ko, but the hints of other people off stage is nice.
